Yea Arfie, I never go detecting without little nancy32. It aint much but it would be the last resort if I was jumped. I guess the US sounds like a dangerous place to you guys in S.A.? Well it is. Arfie did only a fair job of listing the possible 2 legged hazzards. We also have the homeless drug addict, Methheads, crackheads, the alien fugitive, the escaped killer, the recently released convict, the juvenile delinquent, lot lizards,  the scorned wife etc, etc. Which brings up something that happened the other day. I was watching a TV program about the goings on in Somalia with my Daughter and she asked me how it was in S.A. She said "It must be pretty dangerous there". Not knowing what the situation is there I said. Yes and when people in S.A. hear about the drug war going on in Mexican border of the U.S., they probably think that the U.S. is a pretty dangerous place too. The fact is the news media always reports the bad stuff and when we see it we tend to generalize that to the rest of the country. Where I live is moderately safe but I carry little nancy32 because its legal and you just never know what you are going to meet up with.  I'm pleased to say I've never had to pull it out although once or twice I thought I might. Hey guys, yeah you are right in the way we think about the others country, unfortunately in SA it has become a place of crime, and vicious crime at that  No no! things like car hijacking using a firearm to get the job done, security van hijackings using major weapons, house robberies with killing the occupants / beating them up badly, plus many others... drugs are also very big in SA  Angry things have changed very much for the worse here.... Pity, as it is a great country to live in as we have everything a person could ask for  Kiss

As for the other argument  Funny you have a choice, you can be kids or ladies, your choice  Funny Funny Funny Funny Grin Grin Grin Grin

I agree wholeheartedly, Gambol1.   We form our impressions of people and places from the media, movies and reports.etc.... which are far too often in the negative!

I pack my weapon, but I have never had to use it and hope I never have too.  But it is always wise to be prepared.  I'm sure there is more danger from snakes and other natural wildlife than from two-leggers... but better have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!

It has happened quite often here in SA that people have been shot with their own guns, sometimes it does not pay to carry a weapon  No no! even people sleeping when criminals have broken into their homes have been killed by their own weapons, just does not make sense does it  Thumbs Down the crime is also the reason I do not wear headphones while detecting... The army always taught us to know our surroundings, in this day and age more than ever it is relevant  Great

&^%# nearly did myself there  Grin Homefire Go easy on the poodles will you. Big problem is that the criminal has more protection than the victim Here is an example a young girl is going to a party on the way home she gets raped well she ends up being the guilty one because she was wearing a mini skirt and she provoked here assailant and had she been carrying a gun and shot him she would have endless problems possibly even get charged for having protected herself. Now they want us to stop having guns GREAT now we will really be at he mercy of the criminals.        This is BS as far as I'm concerned
