OK well here it is then. I have a toggle switch with the red wire on center pin the the coil goes on the one side of the switch and the pin-pointer on the other, this must be the simplist mod Iv'e ever done and it works great. The Pin-Pointer is a ferrite rod with a coil around it and that's it, the assembely is placed in a piece of conduit and filed with wax (I used wax as I did not have anything else)

That's clever, is the Probe a PI too?

Its so compact, Detecting without a pinpointer is so long winded I don't like going out with out one,

weldone I like that,  AU

Yes the pin-pointer is PI as it simply connects in the place of the search coil, flip the switch one way and you have pin-pointer and the other way normal detector, I used this on the DBP2010 in SA

Hi Sinclairuser

Gold and Diamonds are a no no situation in SA but they are only protecting the raw material, so if you find a gold coin no problem and the same goes for cut diamonds.

And he has a good knowledge of the South African history so it would be good to have him back on here.

HI Peter

SA is out, I can't see how I could live there again with my medical condition tooooo risky but holidays even long 3 month holidays are in. I wen't detecting again yesterday but only found a coin from 1923, and that's OK by me. I'm slowly finding places to hunt but am trying to stay away from WW2 sites as I'm not much interested in it, what I am looking for is a battle field from the roman time or before but that's not going to be easy to find.

Still have a unassembled Surf Kit from Silverdog.  Going to make up one of your pin pointer coils for sure.

I need to post all the specs for it, I can't remember if I did not already do that when I build it for the DBP2010?
