Wal Mart tried the same thing here and got shot down, Stones River Battlefield is almost all gone as it is due to development.  I hope the people win and keep there Historic Site and

"Those people" always get the names wrong (including the name of the conflict)...unfortunately, they've been controlling the history books for so long that most folks nowadays only know it by the Yankee name (which usually isn't nearly as accurate or descriptive.....just look at the USS Monitor vs  CSS Virginia or the First and Second battles of Manassas).   As Winston Churchill said, "History is written by the victors".

I know and I live here in the Boro. if your talking battle fields its best to go by the name with which it is identified with Nationally and in our case its Stones River Battefield , That way if someone wishes to look it up for more info they have the Correct Name. and you are right around here it is called the Battle of Murfreesboro just like my property sits on the land that was used for the battle of Readyville.

Just Saying.

Datz cuz da yankees rote da history books!!!

They can call it the battle of stones river 'till Hell freezes over, its The Battle of Murfreesboro to me. Just like antietam is Sharpsburg, pittsburg landing is Shiloh, pea ridge is Elkhorn Tavern . . . I guess the only one we agree on is Gettysburg.
