Treasure hunting on Hilton Head? Town law says to leave those relics alone

Hilton Head Island might be best known by visitors for its clean air, wide beaches and warm waters.

Oh THAT'S nice....

 No no!

This is what happens when we don't stand up for ourselves.

I'm SURE that there were some territorial archies that jumped on the chance to whip out their degrees and tired mantra.
They even used the buzzwords.. "would be treasure hunters" "looters", "looting history"

Typical....

I agree we need to be careful, and that many with degrees are over-zealous, but as I read the proposed law it was aimed at folks hunting on PRIVATE property without permission of the owner.....a violation of the Treasure Hunter code of conduct AND trespassing.     (personally, I don't think they need a new law---I think getting them for trespassing should be sufficient--but only if the land owner wants to persue it.)

My thoughts exactly..

More laws and regulation are NEVER the answer...
