In that case, take Homefire's advise and cash them in. I'm sure the American Embassy or the local consulate can make the necessary arrangements if you are unable to travel to California (the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco has branch offices in Los Angeles, Portland Oregon, Seattle Washington, and Salt Lake City Utah if you wish to redeem them in person).
