I have tried to throw this "gizmo" into my brass scrap a few times but always retrieve it untill I know what it is I cant part with it.
I found it several years ago in the bush it is either bronze or brass.......

Yep!  The pin on the shaft would have been connected to a wheel to pull it along with the Water Motor contained within the body.

Yep, Yep, Seen them before.   Wise

I don't know.....almost as much fun as figuring out what an unknown find is, is figuring out what else you could use it for (say in model making or in one of those I Spy books)......obvious choice would be using that as an old-fashioned basement boiler in a little girls dollhouse.   any other suggestions?

Hi B A,
It does resemble a boiler too only problem is I'd have to build the doll house, now that would take time away from detecting...Huh? Naaaaaaaaa
