Go Up Go Down

Found this at a Girl Scout cabin that had been torn down. It is cast bronze. It is 9 1/2" long by 3 3/8" wide. The bottom has a wedge shape, but not sharp. Any idea what it was used for?

I think John is right! This would really make sense.

There is also the possibility that it is part of a weather vane. Some were mounted on top of barns or houses for looks and did not actually move.

My thought was antique weather vane also. It looks in great shape.

Too bad you didn't find all of it.  Those are usually real ornamental.

Thanks for all the input. I tend to think it is not part of a weather vane because it is 1/4" thick and this piece weighs 19 oz. It does not appear to be cut or broken. The end away from the feather starts tapering about one inch from the end and terminates with about a 1/16" edge. It is definitely cast bronze and heavy for it's size. You can see where the three cast holes were cut off after pouring. Haven't found anyone who has been able to identify it any better than your guesses. I appreciate all your help.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
