Go Up Go Down

I had about an hour today and went to my new site. I found this toy soldier about 3 feet from the candle stick I found Friday. I guess it is a toy soldier with a flame thrower but I've never seen one like this. Anyone have any Idea what it is and how old it is?. The hole in the back was made when I whacked it with my hand adz. Undecided I'm lucky I didn't cut him in half. gambol

Could be some early type of Claymore mine? Just a guess though.

It reminds me of a military periscope used by the army to observe enemy movements without being seen.  Check out this url and check the photo.  I notice the object the toy soldier has has a tripod stand for the item.  So I'm led to believe it is a military periscope.

It is not a weapon.  It is a rangefinder similar to the ranger finders in these urls

It was used to determine the distance from the artillery piece to the target.   This particular toy soldier probably belonged to a set that included the cannon and the artillery men to serve the cannon.
