What mark? It's a chip in the stone.

It is an ordinary phenomena...caused by roots of trees, or weathering process..must better to concentrate to the surroundings (look for disturbed soil/rocks), living witnesses, researches if any..not just on rocks...unless it is very clear sign...I have seen hundreds of signs on rocks...even footprints and round painted rock (red color)...if I can only post it here...they are recorded in V8 tape of my Sony Handycam...unfortunately my handy cam is not working  anymore....

Redflex, the problem is that those wanting to see treasure sign see it in everything. It may be just an ordinary chip in a rock but to the dreamers, it is a sure sign of GOLD!

Yeah...you are right, Gold digger 1950...I think it is more of illusions... anyway it will prop them up to dig more and more...till they hit it nothing...signs that lead to successful recovery of buried treasure are clear, tangible and big enough to be noticed by the unwary eyes...the surroundings speak itself such as disturbed & non-uniformed soil...not on the rocks only...

Posted on: October 21, 2010, 04:03:22 AM
I think the best way for them to familiarize with the carvings on the rocks is for them to go to the river and make inspections there..there are many rocks there with different marks and carvings..then they will have to concentrate digging there...the whole stretch of the river is full of gold...what a pity...

It is definitely man made.  I'm not sure it is a mark but rather something else that is cultural.  May help to know what general area you are in to provide context.
