Dreams of finds like this brought me into the hobby. How difficult is it to get permission to search on someone else's property? Apparently you need written permission. Is a "permission form" posted anywhere?

Getting permission is the hardest bit especially in the uk! I am in the process of doing the rounds of local farms hoping that the staffordshire hoard helps me get permission to fine new land to search. I am in east anglia between cambridge and colchester so i am in the right area. There are some permission letters online i will try and find links. Lee

You folks that live in Europe have such an opportunity that us Yanks will never have because there are literally thousands of years worth of history and relics to be found. History has always been a fascination with me ever since I was a child and I love history so much that I became a living historian when I was old enough to strap on a sword or wield a musket. I know that there are cashes of treasures to be found in America but nothing will ever compare to the history to be found in the ground in the UK and Europe. Good luck and happy hunting and if you do find something please don't lock it away in some dark corner. Please share your history with the youth so that it might spark the interest in some young mind because they just don't teach history the way they used too and more and more of our past isn't being taught in the class rooms of today and sometimes a child might not even learn about parts of our past unless he or she encounters someone like us with the passion to remember the past and all of its mistakes and wonders.
Respectively
Phillee

Well there's always Boudiccas grave and horde to be found. That will certainly gain someone a place in history.
