I've never broken an arrowhead so I wasn't even aware of the oxidation process. I am aware of the erosion on the top side of an arrowhead if found out in the open. The top side gets eroded by wind and rain. The bottom side will be relatively intact as it will be protected against the elements. This is one way to authenticate an arrowhead.
