I too just read this thread...I found one of those like yours, and tossed it away, figured if it was fired, it was worthless!  Sad

I've been throwing those in a brass recycle bucket! I'll have to go and dig them out since people collect them. Thanks for the info..John in Va..

I used to deep all mine  along with various shell casings in a bucket thinking  that I could always turn them in for brass.  But over time I saw many many different designs and have come to use some of the older ones such as this Peters shell to help date different sites that I've been hunting.  I find the information and history behind the shell and the shell manufacturing company to be just as interesting if not more so at times than the find itself.  Some of these companies have quite a fair amount of history behind them.

I just came across this thread as I was looking for the same shell. I found a Peters 12 ga. 00 Buck shell my great grandfather had in a hunting vest he gave along with a Winchester Model 1897 12 ga. about 25 years ago.  The shell is still in tact, never been fired, blue cardboard casing.  I didn't know it was so old.

           Hello cowduck,
Welcome to the forum! nice little a shell you have there, not to mention the 12 ga.Winchester. I hope you still have it they are worth a pretty penny!,,,Best Wishes...Rob
