Over the past several years, and this one being no exception. The value of Antique & collectable arms are on the rise. This can be contributed to many factors, from the market value to current politics, to exhaustion of supplies and surpluses. Many dealers rely on the Blue Book of Gun Values for prices. However there are many other sources to be considered in getting the right value on your antique firearm. just for example in most cases a dealer in antique arms will only offer you a small fraction of what the firearm is actually worth. and it has been my experence that when you reject a dealers offer, they will contact you again with a counter offer. sometimes it is substantial  however most times it is not. in my reccomendation it is always better to sell to a private collector so that all parties will be happy.... Best Wishes & Good Luck in Your Hunts.....Rob

Use with caution, be aware of low handed tactics:
1. politicians  Angry
2. lawyers  :Smiley
3. used car salesmen  Grin
4. Gun Dealers (new)  Undecided

Thanks for the advice Rob, will keep it mind.

I figured with the recession that more might be hitting the markets and prices will start declining.

I was told by dealers at a large antique gun show in March that sales are way down  Thumbs Down EXCEPT with the high end rarer pieces which will always have a market.

Just my take on it. Undecided

Hello Wiser,
One of the major factors in low sales is that ammunition for antique arms is hard to obtain. As of late Firearm & ammuntion sales are way up from this time last year.
due to the New White House Administration. II believe in april there were well over 1 million
applications for Federal Checks on firearm purchases. I just purchesed a .32 cal Iver Johnson
for my collection and the price was 2 times the amount as it was several years ago. and upon checking other sources for this firearm. It can retail for up to 500.00 Dollars or more.
My advise is that if you find something you really want, grab it while you can.
As Always Best Wishes,,,,Rob
