a friend found chunks of broken stones with lots of tiny black particles in it, it is soft as gold only it is black.

Black sands, gangue, galena, volcanic glass? Just a few possibilities off the top of my head. Any reaction if soaked in kalamansi juice or vinegar? Did a streak test? Tapped the particles with a hammer? What's the geology of the area in which those stones were found? And yes, photo photo photo!

Gold is never black and black sand is very brittle, not soft. The surface of gold can be covered with black sometimes but a scrape will always show the yellow stuff beneath it.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
