Go Up Go Down

Hi there.  I have been beach hunting lately, in waders up to mid thigh.  I use a long handled, huge stainless scoop, with my Excalibur II.  I have been having all kinds of issues attempting to recover the target in heavy surf.  I actually uncovered a gold band, saw it exposed just as the next wave was about to hit.  I attempted to press it against the sand with my coil until the wave passed - you guessed it - GONE!   Angry  There must be a trick to recovering targets in the surf - any ideas?

I make it a habit to stay on the beach during heavy surf. I also never wear waders. They can be deadly if they fill up and take you into the tide.

The stuff there will keep until a calm day presents itself.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Yeah buddy, I would watch tide charts like a hawk and attack the beach at that point. Also, if you do choose to wear waders be safe, wear a wading belt and know how to clear yourself of them in a hurry.

Cheers

Sean

Thanks guys - just checked out the wader issue.  I guess wearing waders without a wader belt is nuts!  Will be sporting a wading belt the next time out - thanks for the advice.

Don't buy a neoprene belt. Webbed nylon only and wear it tight.

Peace

Sean

Would a wetsuit not be better?
