Realizing I can't invert my unit once the lower end is in the water(don't want to drain H2O into box, right?), but what is usual practice when working close to surf line?

yer right the box don't like water,be careful,i knot a rag around the shaft in case i forget and raise the coil up.the coil can get wet thats no problem

I took my 8 year old DFX into the surf about 8-10 inches deep Smiley . A rogue wave splashed a drop of salt water into the box, killed the circuit board Sad. $85 later I had a new circuit board (thanks, Whites!   Kiss ) I hunt dry sand now  Detecting.
