I'm back from Mexico! I did'nt feel the need to include photos in my report. Here is the inventory of my finds. Remember now, I'm a beginner! Don't laugh!
1. one large paper clip @ 4"
2. eight 16 penny nails @ whatever
3. one beer can @ 8"
4. one drywall screw @ 6"
5. one broken volley ball net holder with strong signal @ 12"
6. one pop top @ #&*@!
I said don't laugh! Stop!!
I had a lot of fun though.

My wife was in charge of the flash light and I handled the scannin and diggin. By the way, everything went smooth at the airports. The TSA scanner studied the xray for a rather extended period of time though. Most of the resorts down there have been rebuilt. A local Mexican asked what I was finding and when I told him nails he said "People are stepping on them all the time".

They must be doing a pretty good job of cleaning up the beach if you only got one pop-top  Smiley

Like Seldom said, you had fun and that's what counts (plus you learned some stuff about your detector and that counts too)

This was the first time I ever metal detected. My wife was in charge of the flashlight and I the detectin n' diggin. A local Mexican asked me about my finds and when I told him mostly nails he was not surprised. According to him a lot of tourist were treated for injuries due to beach construction junk. How the nails got from the motel perimeter to the beach is a little strange to say the least. I was happy with the "GoldPic" performance. I think the user needs a little more practice.The beach at the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe was very rocky with only a few clear areas of clean sand. We hunted at night in pitch black making it all the more exciting when a signal was picked up. This experience has not deterred me. It has actually given me inspiration!
