Just  wondering  if   anybody   ever  built  their  own  headphones?   if  they  did  do  they  have  pictures  of  how  they  did  it, i  know  the   earmuffs   are  cheap,  but  i  wonder  how  they  get  the  coiled  wire  for  them  and  so  on,  sure  would  save  alot  of  money.  Harold in  Fla.

Hello Harald,

unless it is for a set of underwater headphones I think it is cheaper to buy a set and less trouble. I often find good ones on fleamarkets which will even have volume control.

However there are some good mods around for using wireless headphones with nearly any detector.

Best wishes,

Chistian

Harold may I give you some sound advise . Don't think you get anything worthwhile when you build one yourself . Better to pay a small amount and get something good . You can buy a nice set for about $15 - to $20 - .  Cornelius

If  i  can   get  the  General   idea  of  how  to  get  them  apart  without  breaking  them,  i  can  do  the  rest,  i  found  a  place  that  sells   waterproof   speakers   and  the  muffs   the  only  thing  i  got  to  find  is  where  to  buy  the  cable  and  how  to  get  them  apart,  i  know  how  to  get   the  old   excalibur  headphones   apart  but  some  of  the  others  i'm  not  sure,   see  the  ones  for  my  excal   cost  150.00  and  i  think  i  can  make  them  cheaper  if  i  can  get  them  apart  without   breaking  them.   Harold

Hello harold,

I had assumed you were looking into underwater headphones. All it takes is a Piezo speaker which you can house in Epoxy to make it waterproof.

Regards,

Christian

Harold, what's probably themost expensive part is the connector on the headphones. You will need a IP 68 rated sweezch ... try to google for Bulcaner. They have a wide selection of switches.
