Hi Chris, what about Dorset?
There are many beaches here... Bournmouth is good, try around the pier average finds for two hrs work in early morn ?5 to ?20 in modern coin and the odd ring or necklace, down to sandbanks less coin but chance of some older finds, Weymouth is good for modern coin with an odd ring, otherway Christchurch you can find anything there you have hengisthead (spelt wrong I think) although a protected head of land finds falls to the beach from the cliffs, you can find anything there gold stators, relics, modern etc... this area has been used for over 2000 yrs all along this coastline chance finds come up, I was told of a 8 inch gold Buddha statue that was found few months a go after some serious council digging ( took the council 4 months and they dug some serious holes) its thought to have come from a wreak in the bay. hope this gives you something to think about...
Si.
