Been wanting to get a Tesoro Sand Shark for awhile, but I read that the company halted production to fix some flaws. Has production started up again and if so, is the new batch no longer prone to leakage? New Sand Shark owners, please respond. Thanks!

Is there some reason you don't send them an e-mail and ask?

Of course there is some reason; a VERY specific reason at that too. Tesoro may have released units for beta testing (so to speak), so on that possibility I'm hoping to hear from new owners. The official company stance is that the Sand and Tiger shark models are out of production.

Then you're flogging a "maybe" horse. That's a bit silly. Wait and see when the production models come out. If they come out.

Did you ever stop to think that your own comments could be the cause of the next Tesoro rumor?

If people choose to misinterpret my question and start rumors, that's up to them. As for waiting,I see no harm in trying to get extra info while waiting.

What started the rumor that they were ready to release the new model? Well, quite frankly, people just like you speculating. If the company says they're not releasing a new model, then that's a fact. If you suggest they are, that's a rumor. Do you see how that works yet?

The company has neither confirmed not denied any release of a new model; merely that the 2 shark models are currently out of production. This does not exclude the possibility of new shark models or similar waterproof ones in the wings.

Of course it doesn't exclude anything even a new model with a different name. You're asking if someone has this dreamed up, pretend machine before it has been released. Assuming there is such a machine in Beta testing or field testing, Tesoro would have the testers sign all kinds of non-disclosure contracts which means you are asking a member here to betray that trust.

Ring them, mate. Seriously. Call them on the telephone and ask your questions. You haven't contacted them. I can tell because you don't even have correct information on the model that has been DISCONTINUED. For some odd reason, you assume a discontinued model is going to go back into production. It has been WITHDRAWN FROM PRODUCTION, not just recalled for repair.

Should non-disclosure agreements prevent them from releasing any info, so be it. All the same the possibility of such an agreement won't (and didn't) stop me from asking.

And it looks like I'll have to repeat myself. Just because a model is "out of production" (Tesoro's own words), does not mean it will stay that way in perpetuity. As an example, other discontinued brands such as the VW Beetle and Camaro have been revived. Your dogmatism (exemplified by contradictory 1st and 2nd sentences in yr last posting....if a new model is possible, then it shouldn't be dreamed up. It should be a possibility) is hindering you from seeing that it is entirely possible for the Sand Shark to reappear in a new iteration.

Your suggestion of ringing them is a bad one, tis highly unlikely the company would spill any beans. So, once again, if anyone out there has info on the Tesoro Sand Shark's successor or a new and improved model, lets hear from you.

Ring them and find out. When you do you'll find them far more forthcoming and agreeable than you are. Then you can come back and apologize, mate. I won't hold it against you.

I call them a few times a year to keep in touch with a couple of friends there. The answers you seek are a phone call away. If you want to save money, you can send an e-mail. Unless you want to continue to act in this brick headed fashion forever.

I suppose I could just answer you directly but you really should learn how to help yourself just a little.
