I have been using VLF detectors for years, but broke down and decided to get a Dual Field in January. I am very glad that I did because this is a great machine that goes deeper than anything else I have seem. The learning curve is much longer than my CZs and it took a long time to get used to digging 2'+holes all day, but it was worth it. My CZs were leaving some good finds in the surf despite running in autotune. They still are champs up on the dry sand where I need discrimination, but I use the Dual Field down by the water where the jewelry gets lost. There are some great books by Clive James Clynick on how to use this detector and they definitely helped me learn how to use a PI detector effectively. I threw out my old sand scoop and replaced it with a shovel and classifying sieve for the dry sand and a Stealth 08 scoop for the surf. They definitely helped out with the digging. Train your ear to pick out the faint signals and practice with trash targets so you learn what they sound like as that will save you lots of unnecessary digging. Wish you lots of luck!

That plane is cool...you'll find plenty of pull tabs but the next one might be the ring that pays for the detector. happy hunting from S.E.Ks. Smiley
