I wear a headlamp, but I leave it off till I dig up something. When the tides out your 20-30ft out from the normal beach. Dark...invisible. Wondering if it might be worth it to invest in a pair of night vision goggles Wink

Just me, the wind, the tide going out, a starfish and a seal visiting. Oh and a girl high on something a ways down the beach saying, "I'm sooo happy!" over and over and over.....

P.S. The beaches here can be dangerous at night, there's this gang of ruffians who wear black and white stripped fursuits wandering around.  Grin

have you ever tried hunting the grassy strip  by the pier in white rock?  I was  at white rock today (no detector  Sad  ) there sure was a lot of black  muck on the beach  , maybe just rotting seaweed  , hard to detect around.  Is crescent beach cleaner?

Until I get a ATPro I can't hunt grass areas. With a P.I. machine I have to dig every signal, that would turn the grass into a minefield of sod rings. The black muck is mud and seaweed, about the same at crescent mostly. Since its just up the coast north.

I called the city parks dept in w/ rock last  week to get permission but have had no response yet.  I can remember the grassy areas were packed during summer .

any good local detector shops around?  i would like to upgrade soon...

Sent you a PM..

Good idea on permission for the parks, grass. The beach though is public, you can go for it. Just remember if its low tide, be polite and fill your holes. And take trash with you.

Great finds, which beach do you hit? I want to go and hit the beaches near UBC. Now thats its winter the tides should be even lower and offer more beach to detect. If anyone local wants to join me send me an email to sumguy0@shaw.ca
