It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

One thing different here in the US waters, our Portuguese Man Of War jellyfish is not deadly unless you might have a heart condition or rare allergic reaction. Many people here get stung by them, as I have also had the non pleasure. You will remember them if stung, as they hurt more than a bee sting, and the area will usually swell up and be quite painful for a couple to a few hours. They can even leave a scar on your skin. Just watch for the tenacles in the water as they can stretch them for 20 feet. Look for purpleish straight lines about the size of 1/8" string, and avoid touching them. That is where most people get stung, and they will usually stretch them that far in areas only about a foot or less deep water.

speaking of sharks... here in west coast new jersey.... i've hit the river beaches at low tide..... i end up in about waist high water diggin around.... we have had bull sharks come up the river and into the creeks... i somtimes wonder if my number is up in that calm... still... slack tide water.... even if sombody was watchin.... the only thing they'd find ... is my detector....
