You can wear both. The dry suit however will require a helper to put it on and off - also it's harder to take a pee with it Smiley

Dry suits need extra training when diving them as they have a constant air volume in them which will be affected by the changing water pressure. However when just usuing them in the surf i will work fine for you.

They need to be handled more carefully at the neck and arms or will let in water.

I have a friend who hunts in the water often, he bought a dry suit and it started to laek on him in the arm and neck seals. He now uses wet suits. I have 5 wet suits for walking in the water. I usually use just hip boots when the water is calm.

If you'r in shallow watter you could just try neopreen? chest waders
I have a pair and their water tight and keep you warm as well

Most of us don't recomend chest waders where there is any wave at all, they fill up and drown too many people up here.
