Go Up Go Down

Hello  Thanks for the welcome messages I received when I introduced myself a few weeks ago.  I'm looking forward to building my metal detector but won't be able to start until March.  In the meantime I've begun to research the history of  area..  It wasn't settled until the very early1800's, pretty late compared to the rest of the world. Even my old neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York was settled by the early 1600's  You haven't lived until you and the rest of the kids in your third grade class go on a field trip to the Gravesend Neck Road cemetery to do "grave headstone" rubbings of graves from the 1700's.  I think Waveing I may go looking for fancy rings and change.    Wise

Welcome aboard! Seattle has a very colorful history. There's plenty there to find. I'd suggest you think about a water machine if you live near the lake.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

Hi Gold Digger,

Thanks for the reply.  That's what I was thinking.  I guess that means a PI detector design.  I still intend to build one myself.  The current economy and my wife's health concerns have dictated that I build one myself and do it as cheaply as possible.  I've been studying my alternatives and a PI machine seems like it may cost a bit less to construct.  I may make my own PCB just to avoid that expense.  Has anyone made a working board on which everything is hard wired rather than built on a printed circuit board?

Thanks,
Jerry (Hondafactsguy)  Shocked

Hi Shep74,

Thanks for the email.  I'm from the East Coast originally.  I've been here (Kirkland) about nine years and find the weather much less severe than the Albany area in Ney York.   Smiley

Hi Homefire,

I don't have a machine yet.  I haven't decided on what kind of machine to build.  A PI sounds it like would be the best thing to work Lake Washington's beaches.  I'm uncertain what opportunities I can make for land searches.  I grew up in Brooklyn NY and lived for 17 years in upstate New York.  I'm used to pretty severe weather.  Washington weather where we live now is pretty tame.

Do you have GOLD in New Mexico?  That would be exciting.
