Whats the best way to detect a flat (almost ) beach. No gullies to speak of, no washed out areas of sand or low areas, just flat beach.Should i just hunt the high and low water marks?, or just take pot luck anywhere? Undecided

I look for footprints and blanket marks for a starting point. Others do a zig zag path until they find a good area and keep that same distance from the water. I also go into the water quite a bit and if your machine allows it, try that.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.
