Go Up Go Down

I have a question for anyone who can help answer this one.. Some places that I go out metal detecting, I come across a lot of the brass casings from bullets (rifles or pistols). Is it even worth it to hang on to them? Do people actually buy these old dirty casings? I wasn't sure. I figured that they're brass and might possibly be worth something, but wasn't sure.

Thanks

everything is valuable to somebody.........but like homefire says, brass and most other metals are some of the easier things to find a buyer for.   And the scrap people who are paying 90 cents a pound are still making a pretty decent profit themselves (as they should) even after they pay their processing and transportation costs.

Back when I was a Kid, we received good money for lead .   A auto battery could get you a couple of $ back in the 70's  !

Hell I have two 5 gal. white buckets of tire weights that must be 250lbs each.

Best offer todate is 3 cents a lb!

Yep, Not like it was.

On the other hand Copper, Brass are high a hell.

I do hit the gun range down the road.

By the time I get there all to good brass in gone .

I get out the rake and clean up all the .22 brass no one wants to mess with.

Gets me gas money!

Yep!  Scrap Iron here is $110 a tone.   Gotta haul it 100 miles to El- Paso!   I have at least 4 ton stuck away but no way to haul it as of yet.

Heck.... around here you wake up and your copper downspouts are gonners!!! They cut the lines and take the whole compressor unit on residential HVACs just to get about $80 worth of scrap. Over at the electric co they have "cameras in use" signs, video cameras, chainlink fences topped with barbed wire and they still keep on comming and still get one or so B&Es a month, although.... 100% conviction rate! They take the aluminum siding right off of mobile homes!!

Save your brass for cash $$
