Hi I'm a new member and hope I can get some help. I have a Fisher F75 and plan to take a trip to Alaska. Has any of you used the F75 to detect for gold nuggets? I don't think it will find the small ones but maybe some of you have some ideas.

Welcome from Australia.

Now that the formalities are out of the way, I have a question for you. Why would you even ask if a machine designed to find gold can find gold in Alaska? You really should be able to tell by simply reading the owner's manual. It's also considered one of the premier gold prospecting detectors in the industry with fully adjustable ground balancing and mineralization elimination.

If you are looking for a simple vote of confidence, then this detector is perfect for Alaska. Absolutely perfect. You can do no better without spending another $5,000.00 on a Minelab.

I know what you mean. It gets down right annoying digging up nuggets down here. I constantly trip over the big ones in my rush to the next aluminum target I detect.

Note to Bullseye: You really do have a fine machine there. It's on the top of my list for my next detector. Seriously.

Thanks for all the help. Yes, I did read in the manual that it would detect gold. The problem is, they say a lot of things that sounds to good to be true. I do have some small gold nuggets, about 1/8" diam. A little bigger than pickers and it doesn't pick them up. Any idea how small a nugget it will find and what about how deep? I don't have the newest F75. I've had mine for about two years.

I was thinking of going to Chicken but in getting more information. I've been told to go up to Fairbanks for nugget detecting. The information was that Chicken is more for sluice and dredge. My biggest problem is finding places to go. I do think that there are nuggets all over Alaska.
I'm getting a lot of good information from you all on this forum. In looking for places to hunt for gold in Alaska. I need to find places closer to roads for being a disabled Vet. Sometimes I get by ok but other times I have a few problems.
Good luck to you all this coming year.
