minelab goldseekers 15000
« on: March 06, 2010, 11:17:54 am »
Go Up Go Down

I have a Minelabs Goldseekers 15000 that a friend picked up in a yardsale. It did not work when he bought it. I gave him what he paid for it and I have it now, in a repair shop (the price for it and the repair costs are worth it compared to a lot of others I found). I want to know what it can be used for. Is it a good beach hunter? Or is it for dry areas only? Are the search coils meant to get wet? If so how much so. 1 inch of water on coil or what? Thanks  I hope to have a lot of fun with the unit. Just like to know where it was design to search.

Hi Jaime

I see that you did not get any answer to your question since March 6th not nice  , any how here is what I can tell you if the coil is water proof then it don?t matter if you put it in one inch of water or ten the only thing is not to get the electronics wet (the box) you can place an O-Ring round the shaft that will prevent water from going down the shaft when you lift up the detector other than that I can?t help you as I do not know that detector. Best of luck

Xavier

Hi Dkk999

If you don't know what type of detector you are using then I don't know how I could help you with your settings. BFO stands for beet frequency oscillator, VLF if very low frequency and PI is pulse induction. Hope this will get you on your way with the terminology used on the forums

minelab goldseekers 15000

As of Friday (april 2nd) I did not get a word from the repair shop for my MD. So I stopped and asked what was going on. The tech said he was getting a signal but it would not change tones. His wife supposedly found someone that had a schematic and was to send it to him within a week. I am hoping that all this will not cost me too much. He may end up keeping it if costs too much for the repairs.

The Goldseekers 15000 was released in 1984. Minelab?s first detector. And is no longer in production. The Goldseekers 15000 was a VLF detector.
