Hi everyone I'm a complete noob. I as of yet haven't bought anything. So my question is this to you all: If you had to start all over again as a noob but knowing what you know now what would you do?

Drink more Scotch smoke more cigars chase more legends. Treasure hunting is a learning experience from day one till your gone. Listen and learn that's what I would do.

Being a newbe, buy an instrument that you can aford with trash rejection and learn how to use it. Practice makes perfect, i still have my whites 6DB that i bought in 1978 and it served me for many years till i bought my whites XLT which im still learning how to use, every site i take it to you learn how to fine tune it for the conditions. So go get a machine and just do it....Good Luck and Happy Huntin.....DW

Quick Draw , check out the message boards here for your area, there is one for every state, read thru it, and then visit with a local MD dealer, and check out a Local MD , Club, do your research , talk to lots of folks in your area, see what there using and what kind of soil problems etc, they may have, once your research is done you will know what works for your part of the country,

a Detector that works great on the sandy beaches of Florida probably isnt going to work well in your area.
So check out the locals, then Buy what you can afford.   Detecting

The Main thing is to have fun and get a little exercise.  Smiley

Practice patience.....realize that like most other hobbies/crafts, this one takes time and dedication to master.  Try to turn every trip in to a success even when I'm not finding anything but rusty nails and pull-tabs by using the "wasted" trip as an opportunity to practice and or observe.
