sharp shooter II-garrett ace 250

Go Up Go Down

My son bought me a used bounty hunter sharp shooter II "used" from a guy he worked with. I had never used a metal detector before. Thanks to this forum and all the helpfull hints I finally figured out how to use it. I tried just going out turn the button on and away I went. I was so frustrated I was ready to throw it in a brush pile. Here is some helpful hints I learned.
1.  I down loaded a manual and read it over and over.
2.  I built me a detector garden, I glued 12 different kinds of things I might find while relic hunting. to 4" wood slats, I wanted 13 but my wife would not let me glue her gold ring to a board. She did let me take it with me when I practiced
3. I went out in the hills and layed them all out on top of the ground, them I followed the direction from my manual then I buried them at different depths.
4. I practiced for hours and hours putting different things with each other and at different depths until I felt confident that I could find things and hear the right tones that my detector gave me. When some say it takes 100 hours to learn your detector they were right.
This weekend I went out to an old homestead that I had been to twice before, I could not believe all the stuff that I found. I found an old metal button for a doll I think, it is small one, an old bullet 36 cal. best I can tell, parts of an old wood stove. Plus a hand full of homemade nails. I am so excited to get back out there. I am afraid my work might suffer a little this week cause my mind will be on detecting instead of work. I hope all of you have as much fun as I am having now that I have finally learned how to use my detector.
                                                                  DAN F.

Hey Dan, I love it.    More people need to take your approach rather than just chucking the thing in a brush pile when they don't get the results they dreamed of just as soon as they turned it on.
