Hello, I have seen big heavy duty magnets (100 to 150lb) for sale in metal detecting sites, are these only for meteorite or are they also for treasure hunting?
Thanks Phil

They come in handy for getting surface scrap out of the way when your working a junk area.  A lot of guys I hunt with have the smaller magnets (20-40 lb pull) attached to the heads of their diggers when they hunt old town-sites just to grab the junk.

Old computer hard drives are a great source for the smaller size neodymium magnets. They have a small field but are incredibly strong.

I am wondering what you want with rare earth magnets too? I have a few sites with good prices I could find. I do have some smaller ones I use to take out iron fillings but metorites? Is that what you guys are saying to use them for?

yep.....actually any application that calls for a small but relatively powerful magnet.
