I really got a laugh out of an article in "Slate" in which the author has come to the conclusion that metal detecting is "the worlds worst hobby!" She sounds like someone who
1. doesnt do research
2. gives up rather easily
3. didnt have a clue as to what it was all about before she purchased a detector

I think metal detecting is a great hobby! It gives you a thrill, an excellent work out, pays sometime for itsself - all at the same time. Fantastic!
