There's not much better for prospecting. For coin and jewelry? There are better choices.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

So did you buy the Garrett Scorpion Gold Stinger?

If so - what do you think of it. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of info on this. As if not a lot of people have purchased it. Still wondering if people are loving it or hating it since there is only one post all over the net where someone had purchased it and it seems like he did not know how to ground balance it properly - or else he was turning it on inside the house!!! LOL!!!

I like so far what I have read on the capabilities. And the videos online seem to explain it perfectly to the point that I would prefer it to those LCD displayed metal detectors that seems to have way too many adjustments. To the point where you spend more time trying to figure out what your suppose to do, rather than spending it detecting.

That is if you are looking for a machine that is designed for finding natural gold,
and if your looking for a multipurpose machine then you might want to look up the 3 versions of the MXT
that are still available, or the Minelab x-terra 70 / 705

i hpoe this helps

Have  2 of them-love em,  allow yourself 100 hours of learning time, I believe this is what Charles Garrett recomends in the manual, the more you use it the more you will appreciate it, they are not a turn on and go detector (not until you learn how to use it), do fantastic job , actually on almost everything, just LEARN it , and be patient, If you are in a hurry- get somthing else-there is a Garrett Scorpion Forum on the net- might be more Info there Good luck, and HH Wise

i have only used my scorpion a couple times and found the ground balancing a little
difficult but once balanced it works to my satisfaction. I'm sure that balancing will come
automatic as I use the detector more often. found quite a bit of metal pieces of broken
off old  logging equipment from quite a few years back. Did detect minerals in large rock
formations that I will be going back to investigate this spring. Would I recommend the
scorpion, yes, I'm sure that there is better one the market but for the $'s spent I am very
happy with it. Hopfully this helps.  Dale

I can believe how

Old is NOT necessarily a bad thing.  Except for the outrage weight disadvantages of using an old detector vs a new detector there are a whole lot of members here who prefer the older detectors (and for good reasons)----of course most of them don't give a flip about digital displays.

Too bad the price range did not go down as if it were a 20 year old detector!  You would think the Garrett Scorpion Gold Digger is a relic itself!! LOL!!! Grin Grin Grin
