Define Standard?  LOL!

Standard VLF have Discrimination Features of various types.  Coin targeting machines tend to run about 6 Khz.  Gold machines Run from 15 Khz to 70 Khz.

Standard PI Have No Discrimination of any type.

Being Based on Time,  Some machines can Eliminate some objects by not looking within that time gap.

Doing so , they loose the Small Gold and other objects below that time.

Gold seeking PI are able to determine targes down around the 7 uS from TX shut down.

Most Ring and Coin machines only go down to the 20 uS time or so.

Wow!    I bet that was Clear as Mud, Eaaaaa?   Wise

I did not ask the properties of the detectors. i did not say PI or VLF type.  example ; you have 10 same type ( VLF or PI ) metal detector ( different companies )  how do you know which one is the better then the other one . testing standards for metal detector. Depth or which materials used for ...( 1 penny for 22 inc depth or 1 14 carat gold coin for 30 inc ...which searchcoil used for tests....etc..)

the standards :  you need to know which one is better?

as an example of what I mean . its only example for some standard testing about Metal Detector and X-Ray Inspection System ..

Our Metal Detector and X-Ray Inspection System Test Standard Specifications:

All materials used in the manufacture of our metal detector and x-ray inspection system test pieces are FDA compliant. Copies of material data sheets are available here online or by request.

All of the precision miniature balls used in our metal detector and x-ray inspection system test pieces are AMBA, AFBMA, or ISO 3290 certified. A certification of compliance number is labeled on all of our test samples and certificates of compliance are available free of charge. You can view and print the Certificate of Compliance here online at any time.

Miniature ball sample is clearly visible and completely sealed inside of all our tamper-proof metal detector and x-ray inspection system test samples.

You can be assured of independently validated metal detector and x-ray inspection system test pieces since our company's only mission is manufacturing and supplying metal detection and x-ray inspection system validation products. Independent validation of your metal detectors and x-ray inspection systems are required for your QA (quality assurance) program.

For ease of identification all of our metal detector and x-ray inspection system test pieces are color-coded to the type of miniature ball that is enclosed.

Red = Chrome (Ferrous Chrome Metal)

Yellow = Brass (Non-Ferrous Brass Metal)

Blue = Stainless Steel Metal Grades, Aluminum, and Glass

We offer a metal detector and x-ray inspection system test pieces in varying types and sizes to fit your HACCP and GMP validation program needs.....

Ok!   Here in the US I think the only Standards are the FCC and Frequency use.

Other then that I don't really think they follow any like ANSI 2000 or not.

This is why I don't recommend any detector to any one.

Just like your took box, there is a tool for every job.

Some detectors work best for a certain target and other better for others.

There is No One machine for all jobs.

I have found some really cool finds with Out Dated BFO detectors.

I have Not found Gold Nuggets with $400.00 VLF coin machines.

Your Questions , I can not answer.    There is NO standard.

You need to Pick a Slot or type of machine to even began.

Relic?

Coins?

Gold?  Nugget Type.

 Idea

example :To find a tomb ( some coins and some relics in there )

Sample: A and B, PI metal detector. but different companies. Which one you get.? A  OR  B and why  ?

What it finds is not it important to you how much depth? What is important for you to factor the different companies prefer same metal detectors ...

Choosing a metal detector is like choosing an automobile or a television or a camera.   Best is often as much psychological and ergonomic as it is performance......and when it comes to performance where and what you hunt makes a difference.   Thus, as with automobiles, the detector that performs best in one category may perform poorly in another.  Depth is important, but few detectorists are willing to dig a foot or more in the ground.....and they sure aren't going to dig that if they believe the detector when it says the target is a zinc penny or a pull-tab (when in truth it could be a gold ring).

Or to use a non-politically correct (i.e. 19th century/US analogy), choosing the ideal metal detector is like choosing the ideal hunting rifle.   You can come up with all the specs and standards you want, but you don't use a squirrel gun to hunt bull moose or elephants, and you don't use an elephant gun to hunt squirrel or rabbit for the dinner table.   And even if you do limit yourself to one particular type of hunting rifle, a lot of the decision-making is going to be based on personal preferences as opposed to raw performance data.

As BA alludes, there is no formula for determining the best metal detector for your use. There are just too many features unique to each model to give you a clear choice. This is precisely why you are having such trouble choosing one.
