Yeah I don't recommend the 150 just for that reason. A newbie would be frustrated without the pinpoint feature.

the bountyhunter are real good machine for the younger ones and they are cheap to.i say go for a bountyhunter.

a ace 250 or delta 4000 are both easy to use machines and not overly  costly (under $300) and good for beginners
