| I have both the ACE 250 and the ACE 150. Actually both machines work just as well except the 150 has no pinpoint mode and without it the novice will find himself digging huge holes and pawing through the dirt. I would go with the 250 the pinpoint function alone is worth the extra 50 bucks.

Yeah I don't recommend the 150 just for that reason. A newbie would be frustrated without the pinpoint feature.
