Go Up Go Down

Good morning!

I am posting for my Dad.  He has owned a couple of basic beginner detectors and is ready to "move up".  He has a modest budget - would like to stay in the $200 range.

He is considering one of the Bounty Hunter or Titan detectors.  What is the difference between those brands?  Are they made by the same company?

What are some opinions regarding the best quality and ease of use detector in this price range?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Iowa

Anybody?  Suggestions?  What detector would you buy in the $200 range?  Has anyone owned a Bounty Hunter or Titan?
Thanks!

You can get a good used Garrett 250 for around 200-300 on ebay which would be your best bet. BH has good detectors but not knowing what kind of hunting he is interested in its hard to recommend one.

Again, Welcome from New Mexico.

Yep!  It would be good to know what type of hunting he would like or does.

I can think of a few out there but some do some things better then others.

Bounty hunters are great machines for what there made for.

I find them made a bit on the chancy side.   Like to Break plastic parts and stuff.

The company will make it good if your the original buyer.

Titian, I have never messed with.

I think, (NOT SURE) they are make by West Texas detector too.

Some have better backing from the Manufacturer then others.

Let us know, Eaaaa?

Thanks so much for your replies!

I just talked with Dad again to get more information.  He said that he's just hunting for "the usual" in Iowa dirt...wants to hunt for coins and gold jewelry.  He used to have a basic Garrett, but was thinking that a Bounty Hunter or Titan might be better due to their advertising and some of the star ratings on web sites.

So, in the $200 - $300 range, what do you all think is the best detector for coins/gold in the dirt?

Thanks again!
Iowa

For what it's worth,   The Garrett 250 is a kick but machine.   For some Cheap reason they forgot to put a volume control on it.

The Bounty hunters have a few more bells and whistles on them but like I said, Plastic bits fall off.

I have one in the Bone Yard, the ON/OFF volume control pot was a really cheapo and fell apart.

Whites just came out with the new Coin Master for about that price.

I'm not a Whites person but they have a great following and you can't knock there back up on the machines.

What Garrett did or does he have?

look at the delta 4000 made by teknetics for $279 at kellyco -- it has a 0 -99 ---100 number type display to sort  the metal stuff it finds into ( better sorting means less "junk target" digging )--thus a better overall finds % ratio --junk to good --less wasted time means more productive hunts (if your in the right spot to start with that is)-- by having 100 "slots" numbers  the delta 4000 can sort "finer" than most similar priced low end (under $300) detectors --like most bounty hunters in that price range and  the ace 250 (at $212) while the ace 250 is good at $212 -- in my veiw the delta 4000 is clearly worth the $67 dollar differance ($279) -- i own both a ace 250 and a delta 4000 by the way. and also have a tracker IV and have used many "low end" units thru the years as well as high dollar ones.
