Hi Uncharted.  Xavier's right, but figuring out which one is best is another story.   A lot depends upon where you live, where you'll be hunting, and what you will be mainly hunting.   There has been a lot of discussion revolving around that subject for a long time.   (and I know people are going to pop up here with their own favorites like the Ace 250 or one of the Tesoros).  I'd suggest you use the Advanced Search function at the top of the page and search "Entire Forum" for "best detector" and/or "best beginners/detectors".  You'll find some pretty detailed discussions by doing that which may give you the answers you need to make your decision.  If you still have questions after you've read some of those previous postings, I'd suggest opening a new topic in this forum with as specific of a set of questions as you can.

(btw, personal opinion.....always consider a used detector.   you can wind up with more bang for you buck that way)
