I have found a few small caliber rounds from a civil war training fort in my area. Almost all of them registered in the pull tab range, although they seemed to give a softer audible signal than a pull tab.

Let's have a tab rodeo roundup! The one who digs the most tabs could get a statue of a pulltab that's three feet tall made of melted down pulltabs with an engraved inscription stating that he/she is the undisputed " TOP PULLTAB RETRIEVER"  YAHOO! and everyone can wear their lapel pin shaped like a bent pulltab-ha!  Funny Great

I used to save them and hated tossing them in the rubbish bin when I got tired of seeing them. As to digging them, I dig every single target and for every 25 tabs or bottle caps I dig, one surprise always comes up. That's my rate of error based on what I find when I think I have a pull tab. I go by the sound because I use a machine that has no discriminate at all. Not even a knob for it. Nothing.

A friend of mine who uses a Minelab Excalibur II has the same rate of error when his machine indicates a pull tab. For each 25 he digs, one surprise shows itself to him. Where we hunt, that normally means a sixpence or threepence coin for him. Sweet.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

i used to dig every target I got with the exception of very large tagets then I would lift my coil above the target to see how big it actually was. sometimes that large target might consist of lots of smaller targets which could be coins or contain rings.
You never know what your going to get in your sieve unless you dig it.  On one occassion at Newquay when I had a film crew with me expecting me to find loads of gold rings were highly dissapointed when all I found was ring pulls by the score.
The following day after the film crew had long gone I got lucky but it was one of those times when there was a load of sand that had come in and not gone out.  Beaches change every tide its never the same even if you think it is. Tides have a major effect on what yor going to find on any given beach some days it can be good other days crap. If you get a target dig it because if you dont and someone else comes behind you and pulls a gold ring from an area you had gridded then your going to kick yourself for not doing the job. Remember PI detectors only have one tone so you dig or lose

This is some fresh water beach finds, lots of trash but a silver necklace, no rings but you have to dig tabs to find the rings. Happy huntin.....DW

Nice little collection there! And every item in that tub has a story behind it Smiley

So you think there is a cult out there that worship the pulltab.....collect loads and deposit them all over the UK
and gain satisfaction by looking at our faces when we have pulled up a load of them. Sad

Make a game of seeing how many you can dig in a day.......and find out what the ratio of pulltabs to rings is. Smiley
