It depends upon the country, so check with the embassy or the consular office.   As for Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, as Homefire says, you're ok taking your detector there, but you'll still need to check to see if there are any restrictions on where you can use it.

HI , I would surgest that you remove the batteries and pack the rod's and coil in you case so it is padded by whats in you case
and try and carry the control box with you and never let it out of your sight,ok
