I went on my first hunt on the beach  Saturday, was a good 3 hrs ( & ended up utterly exhausted )& found about A$ 7.50 & a thin silver bracelet deep in wet sand.It is very tarnished & crusted up.Have cleaned it up a little but just cannot get rid of the tarnish.Any ideas please on cleaning it up?When it's clean or at least better than at the moment will have a go of sending a pic of it.As I said before very tired but sooooooo pleased with myself Smiley jetrow

Back in the old day, I'd say use the stuff your wife uses to polish the sterling silver, but since few of us have fine silverware anymore, check here:

Hey, jetrow.....no problem.  We all have our moments---especially those of us who are seniors.

Stop talking about me behind my back, mate. I may release the Flying Monkeys if you don't!

Homefire, that is one fabulous tip. When you first posted it, I ran out to the store and bought the salt and sodium bicarbonate to try it. Haven't actually dropped any sliver in yet but I will try it today. Thanks for posting this link.

GD,

Why don't you just use table salt and baking soda?
