Go Up Go Down

Hey guys! Brand new to the hobby and just got out today in the back yard to mess around with my new ace 350.

Maybe I am just not being patient but I
Tested out each mode on the machine and seemed to be getting good hits toward the gold/silver side of the meter. I would pinpoint to the strongest signal center on the coil hotspot and dig, except I found nothin!

Is this to be expected? Am I not being patient? Granted the dirt was pretty thick and wet, 57 deg here in Michigan today and all the snow melted and the ground is soaked.

Anyway if anyone has any tips I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Next time that happens us a Plastic Scoop .

Scoop by Scoop run it over your coil until you find what it was.

It may have just been a bit of rusted Iron or other metals that was no more after you dug it up.

Oh I didn't even think to use a plastic scoop, good tip.

I would roll back over the dig and the dirt and the machine would always go to the same spot I was digging, but I had to have dug at least 12" down. Found a few rocks, a piece of brick, it seems like everything but anything metal lol.

It's supposed to be really nice here tomorrow like around 60 deg which is unheard of for January in Michigan.. I was planning on heading to a local park to see if I can find anything try to get out before anyone else in the spring Smiley

Did you check The Brick and Rock for a signal?

Both can be hot.

Yea I did actually and it didn't seem to produce any results unfortunately. I am going to have to keep playing around I think. Maybe the issue was it was just too wet, was very thick and cold dirt.

You will soon get to know your machine, be patient and do not leave anything behind, if you got a signal there has to be something there. At first it will take you a while to find your target but you will soon be able to do it in the blink of an eye lid

All the best to you

Cold has nothing to do with targets.

Wet makes them shine deeper or smaller ones better..

Mush on and you will find out.

Good advice above.
Like homefire says it could have been a piece of rusted metal and broke up.
Those are a PITA!
But, as you get used to detecting you will learn to be one with the detector  Grin

It could also be something big down deep, Ive found a few aluminum cans down 16"-18" it was pretty common for people to bury their trash out back as well. When I trenched in my power line I pulled a whole bunch of burned and buried tin cans from a spot in the trench.

Yes that could very well be.
