Talking about the battery that supplies the detector. If the detector works with 12v,the baterry don't give 12v exactly.This will influence the detector?Is it better to use a voltage stabilizer like lm7812,of course the battery will need to have 16v because lm7812  need the difference between the input and output 3-4v.

Are you talking about +8v and -8v differential being 16 volts? You need to be more clear in what you are doing. You might need a discrete component regulator rather than an IC regulator.

I think you can realize your problem's solution. But your posted it for make you sure.
