Go Up Go Down

Just a quick question for the group.
I've read in a couple books about the volume setting w/headphones. They suggest turning the volume all the way up on the machine, and adjust it down on the headphones. Haven't tried this yet, but is this a good tip? Also, should the threshold be up just loud enough to hear a constant hum in the background. I've been trying it that way and it seems to work, although the hum can get to ya after awhile.
Thanks
Rich Detecting

Some people refer to it as getting extra Gain out of thier detectors. I do it. It will allow you to hear those faint signals a little better. Use good headphone with volume controlls. I use a gold screamer amp on my Minelab PI to boost the volume
so I can hear those realy realy faint signals when I am nugget hunting.

Good luck
Todd
