Go Up Go Down

I am just getting back into metal detecting and just got my new MD today.  What I want next is either a good pair of earphones and a Garrett pro-pointer, both are near or over $100.00.  I would like to dig less and find my target faster, but I also don't have a volume control on my Tesoro Vaquero and I might not be hearing those deep coins I want to find. Any thoughts on which would be the best next purchase?

Personally, I don't see a reason to pay over $100 for a pair of headphones when I  get perfectly satisfactory results using the light weight, fold up headphones that came with my wife's portable dvd player and a $5 adaptor from Radio Shack.   So,  I guess I'd spend the money on the pinpointer.....but even there, I'd take the time to practice my pinpointing technique following the directions in the manual before I spent the money on an auxillary pinpointer (one less thing to keep track of in the field)....

But if you really want advise on both headphones and pinpointers, you can use the search function at the top right corner of the page.  Pinpointers have been a frequent subject of discussion.    Headphones, not so much--but you should be able to find a few comments on them too.

Thanks BA for the suggestion.  I went to radio shack today and go an adapter to my work headphones that are able to plug into an MD3 player.  It works great!  Guess I'll start saving for the Pro Pointer.

Down here on the Border, I don't use head phones unless the wind is up.

We have Border Patrol, Bad Mans, and other goodies that can KILL you if they approach unnoticed.

Hell , we have Mtn Tigers and Bear.

If I use Head Phones there Open form type and I can hear what's going on out side.

Yeah, homefire, there's a time and a place for everything.....and if I hunted where you hunt, I wouldn't wear them either---least-wise not unless I was with a good sized group of that was in the habit of watching each others back, but in a park in Deming or Lordsburg, I might.
