Hello, I a beginner.  is it better to get a dectector with all the 'bells and whistles' to detect for gold caches or will a cheaper model do just as well?  Thanks Dave

Just because it doesn't have the bells and whistles, doesn't mean it is either inferior or cheaper......a lot of our experienced hunters will take an old analog with just sound and a old-fashioned meter over a fancy new computerized model.   I suggest you use the search function at the top righ corner and search "best detector" for some tips.   You want the best detector you can afford (and a lot of times, that's a good used detector).

Wise words indeed B.A. there are some cracking analogue detectors out there used for not much cash.

Thanks for your replys.  I am most interested in where I might go to find a suitable used low price detector that would be capable of finding gold caches.
Thanks for your response

If it's a cache you are specifically looking for and not single coins/small objects then maybe something like this?
