Does anyone out there use black light to search for gem stones. I guess some gem stones(diamonds)glow when exposed to black lights. Looking to find out what kind is used if it is long wave or short wave black light. Also sources to purchase these lights. Thanks

Harold:

(my dads name) I have just been sitting here waiting for someone to ask, well..... not really, but someone was asking a couple days ago, and I have been Googling... or was that gurgling?  Funny

I will upload some example prices and both long wave and long/short combos, quite good prices, actually, yet some of the Chinese ones, that sell for $15 to $18, I have seen listed for $200 to $300, you have to watch carefully.

The longwave is good for some rocks, but the shortwave seems to work on more. Also, shortwave can have different colours than longwave.... both are dangerous to the eyes and skin.... tanning beds are longwave and Researching Doctors are now saying they DO cause cancer.

I will also upload an example of eye protection. Gloves should protect hands.... like welders gloves do, as arc welding gives off lots of UV

Ive got more...
