ed: quote "PCB's are and insulative oil that is highly toxic. Found in transfomers made mostly by GE this stuff will poison and kill you with cancers, leukemia, etc"

I've been working around this stuff for 43 years now and as Xavier can probably confirm. It won't bother you till you smoke it and inhale the Furons. Askeral (trade name) was the best transformer oil made. Good dielectric properties, good heat transfer properties also. Of course you can only eat one striper fish meal a month from Long Island Sound now because of the PCB levels in the fish. .........and I have only had cancer....... once........... By the way, George Westinghouse, my old employer, made his money using Tesla's ideas.
We need to research and see if Tesla had any good PI designs.......... Teach

Polaroid Went Dead Bug.

If they still made Film, I would do it again .

I would check out a few coils I have.

10 KVDC through a old Diode Tube  (You Don't Even Need a Filiment Current)  Film under the coil and OOOOOOOOLA!   Done Deal.  Just Mash the Developer over the paper and wait 10 seconds.  Peel apart and Rub some Vinegar over the photo to FIX it, (STOP REACTION) .

What A Hoot! The Good Old Days!

86 is a pretty long life for the time I think.

Now this is the good stuff he was working on last, probably to wipe out excessive pigeons...

"'Death Ray' for Planes", New York Times, September 22, 1940.  ?Nikola Tesla, one of the truly great inventors who celebrated his eighty-fourth birthday on July 10, tells the writer that he stands ready to divulge to the United States government the secret of his 'teleforce,' of which he said, 'airplane motors would be melted at a distance of 250 miles, so that an invisible 'Chinese Wall of Defense' would be built around the country against any enemy attack by an enemy air force, no matter how large.'?

He never stopped until he died, alone in his hotel room. Tesla was more interested in helping his fellow man than making a dollar. All he really cared about was having funds to continue his experiments. Like Paul said when Westinghouse was on the verge of bankruptcy Tesla tore up a number of his patents to help save the company. Unfortunately when Tesla was in the same situation that was apparently forgotten. Even after he invented many important products we use today he was thought a crackpot by scientists of the day. He caused a big stir in Colorado Springs by wiping out the power grid by trying to transmit electricity through the air. He regularly "recharged" himself by passing electrical current through his body. He was definitely eccentric, but only now are people really understanding how far ahead of the curve he was with many ideas.

Thanks for the update Jones, I thought he passed away earlier! So perhaps this is wrong also( he only slept about 5 hr per night) Too much info and ideas in his head. The transmitting of power through air is interesting, Someone was saying to me about that recently. That some company's are still working on the idea now ! He was also going to supply all the electricity to the eastern grid from one power station!!
Free electricity , that was without meters at each house. But then who would make all the money  Huh?

"But then who would make all the money"

He thought power should be free to humanity. What a different world that would be eh? I admire the man because he was constantly told he couldn't do many of the things he imagined, but he failed to listen and did them anyway.

I still wonder if that death ray ever happened.....  Shocked  Grin

Wow, wish we had people like that today. Can you imagine, what with the internet, marvelous.....

But we're all being dumbed down by all the  2400 mhz cell phone buzz in our brains, disrupting our organs and helping us all get fat... That's my story and I like it.....

I agree Ed, we are constantly told what we can't do, and constantly interrupted from focusing on anything by constant distraction. How wonderful it was in the old days before electronic leashes, err I mean cell phones...

Just for entertainment value, this guy does some crazy stuff with old microwaves and such. Some of you electronic wizards might get a kick out of it.
