aura: the field of subtle, luminous radiation (halo) that supposedly surrounds everyone and everything. In living things, the aura will supposedly tell you the physical, psychological, psychic, and spiritual health and nature of the person or creature. For non-animate objects, the aura supposedly tells you what the object is composed of.....which means that gold has a specific aura all its own that can supposedly be detected either by people with special gifts or people with proper training or people using specialized equipment or people using not so specialized equipment but trained to use it in a specialized way.
Whether any of that can be reproduced or not is often the subject of very heated debate between skeptics and non-skeptics.
