I now realize why you are finding so much - that's quite a hole, but you're getting down to the goodies. I've tried a few surface dumps, but always ran into so much tangling wire that I just gave up. I really should dig down next to it - I'm now understanding.

talk about being DOWN in the dump(s)!........

Most of the dumps I've been too are pretty much surface dumps, which makes them a bit easier to work (although I can remember stumbling on a few that weren't before I got into THunting).

You guys have NO IDEA as to how deep some of us dig there!!!!!!
We can not go as deep as the deposit goes. It keeps caving in on us and it can be very dangerous.
We never go alone just in case there is an accident such as getting buried alive!!!!!!!!!
Or perhaps a hidden heavy object should fall into our laps!!!!!!!!
Or even getting Copperhead or Black Widow bit!!!!!!! Shocked
Not to mention the poison Ivy.........
It can be very problematic there so we are careful as to how we proceed.
It does not matter what we are finding we've got to be careful.
The season is just beginning here so I will be bringing home more stuff for my wife to complain about. I just have to find a place to put it.
I sure would like to take some of you guys with us. The place is so large it really does not matter how many people go.
I'm sure you would take home some prize you would remember for a lifetime.

That looks like a trip. Digging and playing in the dirt is fun enough by itself let alone finding cool stuff... I would laugh very hard if you posted a picture of a handful of pull tabs after the first pic.

Fortunately, most of the dumps I dig in were only  used for a short time by a relatively small population, so they either don't get anywhere near that big or they are more spread-out.   (one of the advantages of searching former town-sites)   but the downside of that is there are fewer goodies to pull out and less variety in what you do find.

Looking forward to seeing more gems from that treasure mine before the government makes it inaccessible.
